Are you interested in joining our committee and helping to promote excellence in table tennis at the University of Cambridge? 

 

We're always looking for enthusiastic members to join our committee. Whether you have prior experience or just a passion for table tennis, we encourage you to apply today. Joining our committee is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both the sport and student life.

Applcations for committee roles for the next academic year are opened in Easter term but if you are interested in joining immediately for this academic year, please message the Club President (tc626@cam.ac.uk).

ROLES 

President

​

The primary coordinator of the club. The President is responsible for setting the general direction of the club and leading all other committee members. On a day-to-day basis, the President would distribute the workload and organize the work flow of the club. He/she would also be directly answering inquiries from members and handling much of the administrative work that arises from the operation of the club.

Vice President

​

The secondary coordinator of the club. The Vice President is responsible for assisting the President with the general direction of the club and liaising with all other committee members. On a day-to-day basis, the Vice President supports the President with the administrative workload and directly answers inquiries from members.

​

Junior Treasurer

​

The Junior Treasurer takes responsibility in the club’s day to day finances - this includes overseeing all monetary transactions, collecting membership fees, liaising with the Senior Treasurer, finding sponsorships, and ensuring the books add up at the end of the year. In addition, the Junior Treasurer would also share responsibility in making venue reservations for table tennis sessions and matches.

Secretary

​

An enthusiastic person laying down the rules and running the intercollegiate league, along with Cuppers, a knockout tournament between college teams. The secretary would be responsible for keeping contact with the captains of all college table tennis teams. 

​

Team Captains (Men/Women)

​

Committed players with outstanding table tennis skills to take charge of all affairs related to the University matches. The Men’s and Women’s Captains would primarily be responsible in selecting players to represent the university in external matches. Captains would lead the university team to play home/away matches in BUCS league and Varsity. The Captains would be focused on improving the level of play of the university team and also share the workload of other members in the committee. Captains are also responsible for communicating with the Blues committee.

Social, Welfare & Safety Officer

 

The Welfare & Social Officer’s responsibilities are three-fold. He/she would be responsible for overseeing the health and safety of all club members, providing a first point of contact for members of the club who feel unsafe or unfairly treated. He/she is also in charged of the safety of the club, during training, games, and in case anyone has concern over health or safety while playing table tennis.  Additionally, the Committee member taking up this position would be responsible for updating the social media pages and organizing social events, such as formals, garden parties, and other social activities.
